Have you ever imagined a website with a festival schedule from north do south of Brazil and with tips of how to get there and enjoy the experience in the best way? Launched in the panel New Projects for 2020 at SIM 2019, Mapa dos Festivais is exactly that! Besides a calendar with information about the registered events, the platform offers the user hospitality options, tips on how to come and go, among other features to make the life of people who like to travel to appreciate good concerts a little easier. "We joke that it is the Google Flights of festivals, because if the person already knows which festival she wants to go, she types the name and receives all the informations. And if she doesn't know, she'll discover new ones. We want to stimulate people to discover Brazil through music festivals", reveals Juli Baldi, the project's idealizer.

“We already had this idea for about two years, but it was to simply register 30 independent festivals in Brazil and write a report about these festivals, a journalistic coverage. After having access to informations of Sympla's research with SIM São Paulo, that there are over 2000 music festivals in Brazil, we realized that it was necessary to expand this spectrum and transform this idea, that was of historical registration, into a product", tells the curator that presented Mapa dos Festivais in SIM's Music and Technology Startup Pitches.

“It was important to launch the project at SIM because it's an audience extremely qualified, that payed attention while we talked and presented the project. I think the hardest thing in the world, for everyone, is to catch people's attention... And the entire industry of Brazil and the world is present at the event, it was fundamental for us to start a dialogue with producers", she tells, reinforcing the role of Mapa as a strategic media and promotion partner. “The festivals that are in their first edition, that don't have conditions of having a cool website, that don't have a lot of structure, can use the page of Mapa dos Festivais to put every line-up information, how to get there, where to stay, everything there".

The Mapa dos Festivais is still in its first phase, with around 160 festivals in its data base, and has the goal of reaching almost 900 until the end of 2020, including events of differente genres, from indie to funk, going through pop, rock, hip hop, gospel music, brazilian country, brega, etc. “We want to improve the website, make an app and have new features. For now, we're registering the festivals manually. Until the end of March, we're gonna have an area where the producers themselves can register and keep their festivals updated in an independent way", she tells and brings forward the plans of also developing fans and artists profile in the platform: “We also want the music fan to have its own login so they can save the festivals they want to go, send to their friends and start planning a trip through the website. And also that the artists have their own page, which the fan can follow and get notifications of when the artist is playing in certain festival”.

Excited, Juli shares the plans for the future: "We want to grow until we have our own stage in festivals, make festivals and artists showcases around Brazil, to really expand. By the end of 2020, we want to have an English and Spanish translation for the site, because it will be very usefull for who comes from outside of Brazil and wants to know the country and its music. Other feature we want to launch by the end of the year is the blog. We want to have a lot of content besides the festivals' informations on their pages: writing about their music scenes, make regional divisions, etc., so that people can get interested in getting out of their cities and homes to have new experiences, meet new festivals and artists".

“Is a huge challenge, but we're always very happy when someone access Mapa, browses through it and starts to freak 'oh, but you could to this, could do that'. It'd really cool to see people dreaming with us, seeing its potential", she concludes, reinforcing the importance of users feedback so that the platform can develop in a better way for everyone.
